Happenings:
Parti Party
The inaugural Parti Party took place on the 4th of May. This event brought together architects, urban planners, poets, and engineers who enjoyed an open discussion over Ethiopian food.
Each event will feature presentations on a specific design prompt. This months was ‘Plaza’. Me, Hasheem, presented a plaza in Derita using the land in front of the AT&T building.
Jacob presented an idea for a plaza sculpture that continuously changes and is perceived differently by each person.
While the presentation was going on, the audience was able to ask questions, give advice on how to strengthen the designs. They also were asked to sketch a ‘parti’ of the designs presented. A Parti refers to the basic concept or idea behind a design or architectural project.
A good time was had and we look forward to the next one here at Derita Design on Friday, June 23rd.
The Frame Clt Backdrop
The Frame Clt is a photography studio on the East Side that had a 1-Year celebration this month. I was able to fabricate a backdrop at Derita Design to help create place at this lovely event. Thank You for the opportunity to help make this party a lovely affair!

Studio Space
Since you guys are subscribed to the newsletter you get a sneak peak of the big news….. Applications are officially open for renting Studio space at Derita Design. A video and pretty photos soon to come explaining the space and benefits you’ll get if you want to help our goal of making Derita a Design Destination™.
There are 2 Studios:
Gibbon Studio - Named after Gibbon Road, this 11’x12’ studio has a large window wall letting in natural light. This Studio is reserved for the artists working on the ‘Derita is Cool’ Mural until October.
Ribbon Studio - Named after Ribbon Walk Nature Preserve, this 11’ x 12’ studio has 4 solid walls designed to be a blank slate to make your own.
Each Studio has locking doors, 4-20 Amp Outlets, Heat and Cool Mini Split and access to all the wonderful tools at Derita Design.
Price - $500, 1,3 or 6 Month lease.

Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your skills, she'll cover everything from machine setup to sewing techniques, and even troubleshooting those initial hurdles. Bring your sewing machine and immerse yourself in the world of stitching.
